Laurie Marois
from abstract
to hyperrealism
It was only at the age of 19 at the end of her CÉGEP that she discovered an interest in painting and exhibited her first works. After studying Fine Arts in Jonquière and obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Education at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi, she moved to Quebec City where she juggled her teaching profession with that of artist-painter. Following a first exhibition in the fall of 2013 at the Saint-Félicien Library, the Salon des artistes in the city invited her to present her works.
She then received the prize ” Coup de coeur du public ” and several invitations for various exhibitions. Subsequently, she opened a Facebook page that made her art known at such a rate that she decided to put aside her teaching job to devote more time to this new career. In recent years, she has been producing series of works illustrating various subjects. Moving from abstract to hyperrealism, she is generally inspired by macro photography. Her desire to paint a strawberry, a face or a deer shows her “all-rounded” personality.
